Gym Floor Connectors – Guide & Compatibility

Gym Flooring Tile Connectors – Guide & Compatibility

Which tiles are compatible with connectors?

Thickness Connector Compatible?
10mm No – lay-flat design only
15mm No – lay-flat design only
20mm Yes – connectors recommended
30mm Yes – connectors recommended
40mm Yes – connectors recommended

10mm & 15mm tiles are designed to be laid directly onto a flat subfloor without connectors. Adhesive can be used for permanent installations. These thicknesses are not compatible with plastic connectors due to the tile structure.

20mm, 30mm & 40mm tiles have a connector-ready base. Tiles can be laid loose (their weight helps keep them in place), but connectors are strongly recommended for easier installation, better alignment, and improved stability in larger layouts.

About our connectors

Equipped Gym Interlocking Gym Flooring Tile Connectors are designed specifically for our 1m x 1m rubber gym tiles. They fit into the underside recesses of the tiles to lock adjacent tiles together.

Key features:

  • Prevents tiles shifting during use and temperature changes

  • Reduces visible gaps for a cleaner, more professional finish

  • Push-fit design – no tools or adhesive required

  • Made from durable PE plastic for long-lasting use

How many connectors do I need?

  • 3–4 connectors per 1m x 1m tile is the standard recommendation

  • Use more in higher-impact areas or around heavy racks and equipment

  • Edge and corner connectors can be added for a cleaner perimeter finish and to reduce trip hazards on thicker tiles

  • Connectors are not essential, but make installation significantly easier and improve long-term stability
