How Heavy Should Your First Kettlebell Be?
The right starting weight depends on the movements you plan to train. Swings and deadlifts recruit the whole body, so most people can start heavier than they expect — while presses, snatches and Turkish get-ups reward a lighter, more controllable bell. As a rough guide, newcomers often begin around 8kg–12kg for overhead work and 12kg–16kg for swings, moving up as technique improves.
Our single cast iron kettlebells run from 4kg all the way to 40kg, starting at just £8.99 per bell, so you can pick the exact weight that matches your current strength — and simply add the next size up when you outgrow it.
Why Train With Cast Iron Kettlebells?
A kettlebell's offset centre of gravity is what makes it such an effective training tool: every swing, clean and carry forces your grip, core and posterior chain to work together. Cast iron construction keeps that experience consistent — each bell is cast for durability, with a comfortable handle that stays secure during high-rep flows and sweaty conditioning sessions.
Because one bell covers strength, power and cardiovascular work in a single compact piece of kit, kettlebells are ideal where space is tight. A couple of well-chosen weights can do the job of far bulkier equipment in a spare room or garage gym, and they pair neatly with rubber gym flooring to protect the surface underneath.
One Kettlebell or a Full Set?
If you are just starting out, a single bell is all you need — master the fundamentals, then buy the next weight up as you progress. Buying one at a time keeps the cost low and means every kettlebell you own actually gets used.
Coaching a group, or building a gym for more than one person? The single kettlebell page lets you add several weights to your basket in one go, so you can put together the full range a group needs in a single order.
Storing Kettlebells the Right Way
Kettlebells left on the floor become trip hazards and take chips out of hard surfaces. A dedicated rack keeps them off the ground, easy to see and quick to grab mid-session.
Our kettlebell racks come in two widths — a 111cm 3-tier rack at £140 for tighter spaces and a 153cm 3-tier rack at £179.99 where you have room to spread out. See our delivery information page for shipping details on larger items.
Kettlebells FAQs
What weight kettlebell should a beginner start with?
Start lighter for overhead movements and heavier for hip-hinge movements. Many beginners do well with 8kg–12kg for presses and get-ups, and 12kg–16kg for swings. Because our cast iron kettlebells are sold individually from 4kg to 40kg, you can start where you are now and add weight as you progress.
What are your kettlebells made from?
Our kettlebells are cast iron, cast for durability with a comfortable handle designed to stay secure through swings, cleans, snatches, presses, Turkish get-ups and high-rep flows. Cast iron holds its shape and finish through years of regular use, which is why it remains the standard choice in commercial gyms.
What kettlebell weights do you sell?
Single cast iron kettlebells are available in weights from 4kg up to 40kg, priced from £8.99 per bell. You can add several weights to your basket in one go from the product page.
Can I train my whole body with just kettlebells?
Yes. Swings, cleans, snatches, presses, squats, lunges and loaded carries cover strength, power and conditioning in one compact tool. That versatility is why kettlebells are such a popular first purchase for home gyms — one or two bells deliver a complete session without racks of machines.
How should I store my kettlebells?
On a rack, off the floor. We stock 3-tier kettlebell storage racks in 111cm and 153cm widths.
Will kettlebells damage my floor?
Set down repeatedly on bare concrete or timber, cast iron will mark the surface over time. Laying rubber gym flooring under your training area protects both the floor and the finish of your kettlebells, and gives you a stable, non-slip surface to train on.
How quickly will my kettlebells arrive?
We ship across the UK on every order, with the available options shown at checkout. Full timescales and courier details are listed on our Delivery Information page.
Are kettlebells covered by a warranty?
